Artsprojekt

ArtsprojektArtsprojekt is a new joint venture between fellow Atlantan Andy Howell and Zazzle. Here is the brief description of the project from Andy himself:

ARTSPROJEKT is a curated platform that empowers emerging and establish artists and brands to connect, collaborate, and showcase original art, designs and ideas with fans and consumers.

The new ARTSPROJEKT/Zazzle experience offers consumers a robust marketplace with the highest quality retail products, and empowers artists to showcase original art in a safe and secure shopping environment. ARTSPROJEKT is an entirely new community of artistic expression and freedom.

Sounds pretty awesome to me and there is a bunch of submitted work currently on the site, including heavyweights like Shepard Fairey. The real attractive aspect for me is the ability to create custom skateboards. You have to submit some samples of work with your information. According to the site, “[t]he reviewing panel includes museum directors, collections appraisers, and our art management and curatorial staff.”

Anyone else going to submit their work to this? In the back of my mind I am worried about being denied, but you gotta try something like this out when the opportunity arrises. Andy Howell was a big inspiration to me as a young skateboarder and artist, so naturally I am excited.

Friday Morning I went Snowboarding

It was awesome. So much easier than I had heard. I fell at least once on every run but it wasn’t like I ate shit.  I took a 2 hour group lesson and picked up some good pointers.  I was starting to get my carve a couple hours and a dozen runs down the bunny slope later.  On my last run of the day I decided to go for it and get up some speed.  I was doing great and loving it till about 3/4 of the way down I totally bit it and hurt my neck and shoulder and ribs on the left side. I gingerly eased down the rest of the hill, walked slowly to the rental counter and turned my stuff in and went to the car. It was awesome, like I said. Even after getting tweaked I can’t wait to go back.  Next time I will try and get some pix. Come snowboarding with me.
